[Meta Note] Some familiarity with Doctor Who is required to understand this review, namely the basic character of the Thirteenth Doctor as portrayed by actress Jodie Whittaker. The thing I love most about Doctor Who novels is the chance they give to explore in depth the characters which aren’t always given enough of a chance […]
Is leaving an offering of chocolate to Loki because UPG tells me it’s his favorite really all that different from my headcanon that Percy Weasley and Oliver Wood had an intense and passionate love affair? This post was born in conversation with Annie, who writes on Escape Velocities. She has a post in the works […]
I underestimated how much time working full time takes out of my life. Making space outside of that for personal projects is still something that I am adjusting to, but there is time for that. Is this what being a real adult is like? Finding only small moments to write, be it on a bus […]
One thing that I’ve always loved about Doctor Who is the way that people unfamiliar with the Doctor and how they operate react to them, and so I loved that The Good Doctor starts off from the perspective of someone utterly bewildered about what is going on.
Given that there’s no new episodes of Doctor Who until 2020, I decided to read some books that cover the adventures of The Doctor, Yaz, Ryan, and Graham. I started with Combat Magicks because the book is about witchcraft and battles between Attila the Hun and the Roman Empire. How could I possibly resist?
May the gods grant me patience because I am incredibly sick of the implication that because two (or more) people are in a romantic relationship that necessitates the relationship also be sexual. This came up when I was doing research into people’s opinions on the relationship between Crowley and Aziraphale in Good Omens, categorized as […]
I’ve been getting into Tarot cards lately, and I’ve always been into Harry Potter, so it is only natural that eventually I was going to combine the two. The first thing you need to understand is that when I decide to pick up a new hobby, I commit. So when I decided to take up […]
I barely watch TV and I only listen to two bands, which means that when I do get into a series or a musical artist I tend to get obsessed to a level that some might find, quite frankly, alarming. Since one of those two bands is Bastille, naturally I was all over their new […]
While this blog isn’t dedicated to Doctor Who, I can’t resist making a review for the New Year’s special, which absolutely blew my mind. Normal book reviews are already drafted and will resume next week! This first section is spoiler-free, but do mind the marker below. I made my review for series 11 as a […]
Wow. What a season. It’s been ten weeks since I shared my thoughts on The Woman Who Fell to Earth and in that time I have fallen even more in love with the thirteenth Doctor. (I even have an artist’s interpretation print of her on my wall). There is so much I want to say […]
The great thing about an independent study is that I get to focus on what most interests me about a given topic, and time and time again it seems that I am finding myself drawn to Harry Potter. I’ve often joked that given six degrees I can connect anything to the series thematically, and my […]
It’s official — I have a new favorite Doctor. In the lead up to The Woman Who Fell to Earth, I did my best to stay away from spoilers and not look too much into what was going to happen in the episode. Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor is the start to a new era of Doctor […]
This past Tuesday marked the release of one of my most favorite books that I have read this year — An Absolutely Remarkable Thing by Hank Green. I’ve been looking forward to reading this book for months (I preordered it in February, before they even released the cover!) and I have been following its promotion […]
